What is NatHERS?
Why would I want a Home Energy Rating?
NatHERS is the Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme.
NatHERS is administered by the Australian Government on behalf of state and territory governments, through the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW). DCCEEW, as the NatHERS Administrator, is responsible for the scheme’s governance, oversees software and assessor accreditation, ensures alignment with national energy policy, and works with industry to maintain consistent and reliable ratings.
To get a Home Energy Rating, an accredited assessor visits a home, collects data on-site and uses NatHERS-accredited software to generate a certificate that shows the energy efficiency and comfort of the home.
A NatHERS certificate includes:

a Home Energy Rating (0-100+)

a Star Rating (out of 10)

estimated annual energy use and greenhouse gas emissions

information on the performance and energy use of your appliances

an indication of your home or investment property’s comfort level (without heating or cooling)

the renewable energy profile for your home or investment property (if applicable).
